Frank de Wit grew up with a judo mat under his feet. He started practicing judo at the age of five, after which this sport quickly became a significant part of his life. After winning several youth titles and securing the Dutch championship, the major turning point came when he won silver at the Under-18 World Championships at the age of 17. “I realized that I might be able to reach the very highest level.”

With three Olympic appearances (Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, and Paris 2024), Frank has established himself as a top athlete at the highest level. After the Olympic Games in Paris, he decided to switch to the 90 kg weight class.
Frank is known for his attacking style, but he also possesses excellent technical skills and tactical insight. “The beauty of judo is that you can dominate your opponent in different ways. Against one opponent, you need to focus more on tactics, and against another, more on technique or strength.”
