In 2022, Marrit excelled at the European Championships in Rome, where she won gold in both the 100 and 200-meter freestyle. She also frequently stood on the top podium in relay events. In 2024, Marrit claimed gold in the 100-meter freestyle at the Long Course World Championships in Doha, setting a new Dutch record with a time of 52.26 seconds.

Although swimming is often seen as an individual sport, Marrit emphasizes the importance of team spirit. “Swimming is an individual sport, but you still need each other as a team. You often train together. That combination makes it fun for me.”

Marrit always tries to focus on the journey rather than just the end goal. “I always try to stay in the here and now and not be too focused on the result.” This mindset helps her feel more satisfied with her performances, regardless of the outcome.
