Omega-3 fatty acids

What are omega-3 fatty acids?
Omega-3 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fatty acids. The best-known types of omega-3 fatty acids are α-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Since our bodies can only produce small amounts of the latter types of acid, EPA and DHA, themselves, we must make sure we get more of them through our diet.

Why you should consider taking an omega-3 supplement
The main way to take in omega-3 fatty acids from food is by eating fish. The Dutch Health Council recommends eating fish (e.g. salmon, herring, mackerel or sardines) once a week to ensure that you get enough omega-3 fatty acids from your diet. If eating fish is problematic for you, or if you don’t like the taste of fish, an omega-3 supplement, such as Krill Omega-3 Gold or Omega-3 Fish Oil Gold, may be a good solution for you.
